London, United Kingdom – Recently named an Honorary Research Associate at the University College London (UCL) Institute of Archaeology, AERA Co-Field Director Ana Tavares will be a featured guest lecturer as part of the course ‘Archaeology of Ancient Egypt’ instructed by Dr. David Jeffreys.

Ana’s two lectures, AERA/ARCE Archaeological field-schools: Beginners and Advanced at Giza and Memphis and AERA/ARCE Archaeological field-schools: Salvage and Publication at Luxor and Giza are both scheduled for Thursday January 24th. They will review the process of running field work in Egypt, field training for both foreigners and Egyptians, as well as a detailed description of the AERA/ARCE Field School training program.

Ana’s association with the institute as an Honorary Research Associate derives from AERA’s collaboration with the Egypt Exploration Society (EES) in 2011 for the Memphis Field School (MRFS). Dr. David Jeffreys is the director of the EES project, The Survey of Memphis, and senior lecturer in Egyptian Archaeology at the Institute of Archaeology. MRFS is featured in the EES publication ‘Egyptian Archaeology 40’.
